We grew up believing breakfast should be both healthy & delicious, but somewhere along the way, the morning meal was corrupted. Bowls filled with processed ingredients, too much sugar, empty calories and marketing fluff replaced real, wholesome food. So we went back to the basics.

Real oats. Nuts and seeds. Olive oil. A touch of maple syrup. Simple ingredients that do what they’re meant to do. Fuel your body and make you feel good about it.

Our Story

Merricks is a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula, an hour from Melbourne, Australia. It is the place where Sarah, and then her daughter, Isabelle, spent her childhood weekends at the family property, affectionately called "Plein Air." It's where they first learned that real food, made with care and honest ingredients, could nourish both body and soul. Years later, when it came time to name the company, there was only one choice. Merricks represents those sun-soaked days of simple pleasures, wholesome meals, and the belief that good food doesn't need shortcuts. It's a reminder that the best things in life – and the best breakfasts – start with going back to the basics.

The heart of Plein Air was its spacious kitchen with an enormous island counter where Sarah's mother (Isabelle's grandmother) created everything from scratch – quince jam, chutney, lumberjack cake, or her famous chicken sandwiches. Food at Plein Air was always packed with flavor and made from local produce – much of it harvested directly from their own vegetable garden.

These early experiences instilled in Sarah and Isabelle a deep appreciation for honest food made with real ingredients and minimal processing. The warmth and nourishment that came from these kitchen creations would later inspire the founding principles of Merricks Kitchen.

Years later in Newport Beach, Sarah found herself searching for breakfast options that captured the wholesome goodness she remembered from Plein Air. When she couldn't find what she was looking for, she and Isabelle started experimenting in their own kitchen.

What began as a simple family recipe evolved through countless iterations, with carefully selected ingredients that delivered both exceptional flavor and real nutrition. Friends and family couldn't get enough, encouraging her to share it beyond her kitchen table. In 2022, Merricks Kitchen officially launched – named after the Australian seaside town that shaped everything.
